Aurora: 09/10 November 2004

These were taken from my back garden on the night of 09/10 November 2004 - virtually due north, another display of the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights.

There was a problem with "lumps" of low cloud and some hazy cloud higher up which interfered with many of the images I took. I had quite a job trying to differentiate the subtle colours of the aurora from the dominant orange reflection of street lights off the lower lumpy cloud.

This aurora display had been going on for a couple of days and nights but had only become visible in this part of the world when the clouds and rain we had been experiencing for the past "few weeks" cleared a bit.

I used my Nikon Coolpix 5700 with exposures in the region of 30 seconds at f/2.8 and ISO 200/400 setting.
