Total Lunar Eclipse

I was over on Islay with my wife Marion visiting Port Ellen for the weekend.  I spent a most enjoyable Saturday night at the Ardview Inn, Port Ellen on 3rd March 2007.

I was able to indulge in two of my favourite pastimes at the same time - astronomy and sampling of my favourite whiskies at source !!  The other patrons must have wondered what I was up to, disappearing outside with camera and tripod in hand every half hour or so.  In fact, a good number of Ileachs and visitors in the Ardview came outside with me to witness this stunning event which was blessed with totally clear and steady skies - a rare occurrence in the UK and, I know from experience, on Islay.

Below is a compilation image of the entire total lunar eclipse event from start to finish.  Note that the number of images after totality have longer gaps than before it - I wonder why?

Images were taken using a Coolpix 5700 at maximum optical zoom.  The resulting images were minimally processed using Adobe Photoshop CS.
